Mecca Mean Time

From the BBC:
Muslim scientists and clerics have called for the adoption of Mecca time to replace GMT, arguing that the Saudi city is the true centre of the Earth.
It's the sort of statement where the only reasonable response is a long, blank stare.

French Courage

From Yahoo.news:
More than 1,000 police, some wearing black hoods, raided housing projects outside Paris in a massive sweep Monday, kicking open doors and detaining 33 people in a search for rioters who led an outburst of violence last year, a prosecutor said.
This is France? If this keeps up, they might actually end up not surrendering this time.

Reuters Enigma

Reuters reports on the seventh night of rioting and burning by "youths" in Denmark:
Bands of youths set fire to cars, buses and schools in Denmark on Saturday, the seventh night of rioting and vandalism in the capital Copenhagen and other Danish cities, police said on Sunday.
So far, business as usual. But in paragraph seven, this peculiar non sequitar showed up:
Social workers said an alleged plot to kill a Danish cartoonist for his drawing two years ago of the Prophet Mohammad might have fuelled the riots. Danish newspapers reprinted the cartoon on Wednesday in protest against the plot. What is this doing here?
What on Earth do cartoons of Mohammed have to do with rioting "youths", who are no doubt confirmed secularists and can trace their ancestry unbroken to King Ongendus?

Someone should look into this mystery.

"Youths" Riot in Denmark

If you get your news from the mainstream outlets you may not be aware that "youths" of indeterminate religion have been rioting and burning cars and schools in Denmark for five nights.

The money quote is from Chief Inspector Henrik Olesen of the Copenhagen police:
We don't know why they're rioting. I think it's because they're bored. Some people say it's because of the cartoons but that's not my opinion.
Boredom? Such denial hasn't been witnessed since Stalin acted all surprised when the Wehrmacht rolled over his border.

Headless Corpse of Indeterminate Religion

The decapitated body of an Algerian national named Lakhdar Ouyahia was found in Kilburn and a man and woman are in police custody.

Predictably, the BBC is singularly lacking in curiosity as to the religion of the interested parties and the Archbishop of Canterbury was unavailable for comment.

Context is All

A collection of photographs of gay men? That's truly art and worthy of a major museum exhibit... Unless, that is, the artist is a woman. And the men are Muslims. In Mohammed masks. And the museum is in the Netherlands. In that case, it's one cancelled exhibit and one artist literally on the run for her life.

Welcome to Europe 2008.

Yesterday's news: The Bishop of Rochester states that some Muslim areas of Britain are becoming "no-go" zones for infidels.

Not news: Muslim "leaders" demand that the Bishop resign or be sacked.

News: The C of E backs the Bishop.

Made in Britain

One of the ironies of the Jihadists is that on the one hand they are spilling blood left, right and centre to impose a hopelessly puritanical society on the whole of humanity, yet the Jihadists in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere are notorious for their drinking, drug taking, and whoring wherever they hold power.
Some of these men will admit they were insurgents who switched sides because they realized that they are more likely to get what they want with a stable government. Al Qaeda promised them everything under the baking sun, yet al Qaeda killed people who smoked—and Iraqis like to smoke. They killed people who had satellite dishes or televisions, but al Qaeda would be drinking and with prostitutes. Iraqis have told me some interesting anecdotes about the religious technicalities of prostitution. They are not supposed to have sex out of wedlock, so they marry the prostitute (and the house of ill-repute has the proper religious authority present to make the marriage), and then they divorce the prostitute after completing their business. Another rumor in the area is that al Qaeda tried to force shepherds to make their female sheep wear underwear.

The frightening thing about this is that it gives a better insight into the mind of Jihadist recruits in Britain and Europe better than all the blather about disaffection, foreign policy and the like. According to Mary Jackson at The New English Review, it isn't a question of potential Islamofascists rejecting Western culture, but of assimilating only the worst parts of it.

Don’t mess with us, they say. We know our rights. For Britain, once home to the stiff-upper lip, now has a rights culture. And British Muslims scream “Islamophobia” if they don’t get their rights: the right to special food or clothing in schools, the right to be spared any kind of real or imagined offense, the right to a job – on their terms, however unreasonable - and above all the right to welfare payments, which they receive in disproportionately high numbers.

These demands, this sense of entitlement, should worry us far more than niqabs, gangsta rap, or even drugs. Welfare scrounging is not peculiar to Muslims, but Islam alone demands tribute from non-believers in the form of a special tax or jizya. This “right” is set out in the Koran, as part of the rules of jihad. Muslim scrounging is an act of jihad, and payment of benefits an act of dhimmitude.
Or, as Mark Steyn put it:
More than three years ago, I wrote about the "tournante" or "take your turn" -- the gang rape that's become an adolescent rite of passage in the Muslim quarters of French cities - and similar phenomena throughout the West: "Multiculturalism means that the worst attributes of Muslim culture - the subjugation of women -- combine with the worst attributes of Western culture -- licence and self-gratification. Tattooed, pierced Pakistani skinhead gangs swaggering down the streets of northern England areas are as much a product of multiculturalism as the turban-wearing Sikh Mountie in the vice-regal escort." Islamofascism itself is what it says: a fusion of Islamic identity with old-school European totalitarianism. But, whether in turbans or gangsta threads, just as Communism was in its day, so Islam is today's ideology of choice for the world's disaffected.
One of the disturbing truths of this war is that the real threat is not the enemy without or the enemy within, but the brutal fact that in a war of ideologies the West has ceded so much ground without a shot being fired. In a single generation we have dismantled so many of our vital institutions; spurned so many traditions; rejected high culture until only the transient ephemera of pop remains, turned our back on the faith of our fathers to the point where Christianity is often treated as something disreputable; swapped virtues for "values"; exalted the material, the carnal and the perverse without a moments reflection on what that means; sneered at innocence as naiveté; made chastity into a joke; promoted the most graphic of violence as entertainment in a manner that would give Caligula pause; championed tolerance above all else until it becomes an instrument of intolerance, divided race against race and sex against sex in the name of equality; and wallowed in irony until it has seeped into our souls that it is little wonder that so many second generation Muslims in the Britain and Europe grow up to be 7th century fanatics with 21st century vices or that even after six years of war we are still so ill prepared against these monsters. When you yourself reject the best and what is decent that your culture has to offer, don't be surprised if those that come after only assimilate the worst.

I was thinking about this the other day when I was getting ready to post the new Future Cinema section. So many of the films there have been dismissed in recent decades as "propaganda" and "Utopian" and (worst of all modern sins) "naive", but having reviewed a number of them over recent days, the conclusion I have come to is that, whatever their faults, our fathers and grandfathers lived in a time when people were given armour to protect them as plain, yet as strong as that of the first Crusaders, while ours provides us with gaudy crepe costumes that couldn't protect us against a cold east wind.

That allusion? It's from "An Epilogue of Sherlock Holmes" by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, which end with this from Holmes:
There’s an east wind coming all the same, such a wind as never blew on England yet. It will be cold and bitter, Watson, and a good many of us may wither before its blast. But it’s God’s own wind none the less, and a cleaner, better, stronger land will lie in the sunshine when the storm has cleared.
That was in 1916 and that wind ended up blowing for a generation and beyond. I wonder how we will fare against this one.

Shadow Riots

Paris is again burning as "youths" attack policemen and set cars alight.

As per form, the BBC shows its hard-hitting get-to-the-bottom-of-things journalism by stalwartly refusing to identify the "youths" in any way shape or form; including running a series of photos that make it appear as if the riots are being conducted by invisible men.

Kingmaker

Guardian headline:

Muslim politician could be kingmaker in Danish elections
I don't know anything about Mr. Naser Khader, the Muslim Danish Member of Parliament in question; he may well be a sound fellow who has declared war to the knife against the Jihadists and I'm perfectly happy to give him the benefit of the doubt.

However, in the current situation, and especially in Denmark where a 25-year-old social worker from the far-left Red-Green Alliance candidate declares that if elected to Parliament she will show in a hijab, it is a telling illustration that Muslims in Europe do not have to obtain anything like a majority in the population to wield political power and there is no guarantee that that power will be benign.

Spanish Maths

The Jihadists who carried out the Madrid bombings back in 2004 have been sentenced to 43,000 years in prison each.

Don't chill the champagne, though. Under Spanish law these monsters can't serve more than forty years no matter what the sentence.

They kill us and we hit them with soft pillows.

Update: According to the Los Angeles Times, it gets worse:
One of the accused masterminds of the 2004 Madrid terror bombings was acquitted of all charges today by a Spanish court in the culmination to a politically divisive trial over Europe's worst Islamic militant terror attack.

Rabei Osman, a 35-year-old Egyptian, allegedly bragged during a wiretapped phone conversation that the attacks, which killed 191 people and wounded more than 1,800, were his idea. Twenty-eight people were charged in the attacks.
They have him boasting of his perfidity and they let him walk scot free. Dear God.

Religion of Peace

"Youth" of indeterminate religion rioting continues in Amsterdam for a sixth night.

That won't do much for the "Moroccan-Dutch" of indeterminate religion's stigma.

Update: According to reports, part of the problem is that even as the "Moroccan-Dutch" of indeterminate religion "leaders" demand a crack down, the Dutch police are taking a softly-softly approach that amounts to letting the "Youths" of indeterminate religious burn and pillage as they see fit.

Uh huh. Worked so well with the Vikings, why shouldn't it with these barbarians.

"Youth" in Amsterdam

The Digital Journal reports that on Tuesday night Morrocan-Dutch "youths" of indeterminate religion rioted, set cars alight and stoned a police station in Amsterdam after 22-year old Bilal Bajaka, another "youth" of indeterminate religion, walked into a police station with a knife and was shot to death after he stabbed two police officers, leaving them in a "serious, but stable" condition.

Though the religion of the "youths" of indeterminate religion was not mentioned in the article, the fact that the assailant was "personally acquainted with Mohammed Bouyeri, the convicted killer of the late film director Theo van Gogh, as well as with other Moroccan-Dutch terrorist suspects", it is a fair bet that they were not Methodists.

Asked about the incident and riots,
Moroccan-Dutch residents of Slotervaart complained to reporters they were "sick and tired" of continuous "negative news reports" about fellow Moroccan-Dutch, adding they felt increasingly stigmatized.
"Sick and tired" of "negative news reports"? Here is a small suggestion for what it is worth: Maybe the "Moroccan-Dutch" of indeterminate religion would stop being "stigmatised" if they stopped brutally murdering filmmakers, forswore attacking police officers, and refrained from rioting in the streets when one of their co-indeterminate-religionists is brought to justice.

It's called civilisation. Try it some time.

Blaming the Victim

Lars Vilks, the cartoonist at the centre of the Swedish Cartoon War, is interviewed by Paula Newton of CNN, who interjects this observation (emphasis added):
Still one could argue Vilks should have known better because of what happened in Denmark in 2005, when a cartoonist's depictions of the prophet sparked violent protests in the Muslim world and prompted death threats against that cartoonist's life.
Translation: How dare Mr. Vilks refuse to act the good dhimmi and draw the wrath of the Faithful upon his head. Remember what happened to the Danes!

It's as one with Sheik Taj Din al-Hilali's claim that Australian women who refuse to wear the hijab are "abandoned meat" and therefore deserve to be raped. I expect that sort of bile from a raving Jihadist, but from a respected Western news agency it is nothing less than counseling cowardice in a time of war.

Multiculti Madness

Mark Steyn on Mohammed Fayed's assertion that the Princess of Wales was assassinated by MI6 because she was dating a Muslim:

David Pryce-Jones made the point that, in persisting with his lurid accusations, Mohammed Fayed revealed how little he understands Britain: He’s lived there for years, it’s been good to him, he owns Harrod’s and the Paris Ritz and various other baubles. No big deal. He’s one of many, many beneficiaries of Western openness to “the other.” And yet he’s convinced himself that Buckingham Palace is so consumed by “Islamophobia” that the Queen’s husband dialed M, and M called in Moneypenny, and Moneypenny faxed 007, and a week later the princess and her Islamostud are dead.

Reality is more humdrum: In multiculti Britain, everyone was indifferent to Di’s Muslim lover. Could have been a Hindu, could have been a Buddhist. Who cares? But instead Mr Fayed has retreated into the paranoia and victim mentality that stunts so much of the Muslim world. A while back, I was in Jordan, and a wealthy Saudi told me that the Iraq war was part of a continuous western assault on Islam that includes the British Royal Family’s assassination of Dodi Fayed. And so, in a London courtroom, a freak one-off celebrity death becomes just another snapshot of the big geopolitical picture.

Outrage Football

The US military handed out footballs festooned with flags of all nations to Afghan children as goodwill gift and received heartfelt thanks in return. No, actually the kids' elders were (all together now) outraged because one of the flags in question was the Saudi Arabian flag, which has the ward "Allah" written on it.

Did the elders take the footballs away from the kids and put them in a place of veneration and leave it at that? Was the "outrage" aimed at the Saudis for the presumption and poor foresight of putting a supposedly inviolable holy word on a flag, given that flags tend to end up on footballs and other things that get kicked, thumped, bashed, sloshed and shot depending on circumstances? Of course not. It was focused like a gun sight at those wicked Americans for distributing something that they almost certainly did not manufacture themselves and was intended to be used in a way that no one who has a sense of proportion and was not constantly looking for a new grievance would regard as unreasonable. After all, the Union Jack, to give one example, has not one but four Christian crosses on it and no one howls sacrilege when a pair of Reeboks gets scuffed.

This is one of those situations where a strong "get a life" statement is the only one appropriate. For propaganda reasons the Pentagon can't do it, so let's leave it to the more general observations of Pat Condell via Theo Spark.

Cartoon Dhimmitude

America's media outlets have demonstrated that they have spines of pure linguine by censoring Berke Breathed's Opus strip for this week because it might might spark a homicidal Jihadist attack it's "insensitive." Not that it's any big deal. I mean, it's not like it's a hard news story about the FBI looking for two men caught casing Seattle ferries, right?

The outcome of the Danish Cartoon Wars is now clear.

We lost.

Jesus, ITV & Dhimmitiude

From the Guardian:
There was no manger, Christ is not the Messiah, and the crucifixion never happened. A forthcoming ITV documentary will portray Jesus as Muslims see him.

With the Koran as a main source and drawing on interviews with scholars and historians, the Muslim Jesus explores how Islam honours Christ as a prophet but not as the son of God. According to the Koran the crucifixion was a divine illusion. Instead of dying on the cross, Jesus was rescued by angels and raised to heaven.

If this was 1975, I wouldn't have any quarrel with Lord Bragg et al for putting this film out. I would merely file it away as a study in comparative religion of no more or less importance than a discussion of the Arian heresy and leave it at that. However, when it comes at a time when we are in a war for our lives with a load of suicidal Jihadists who use the Koran for their marching orders and when Her Majesty's government allows a most prominent and vocal Islamofascist to walk free and active on British soil, this comes perilously close to carrying the enemy's water for him.

A rule of thumb for the media: If the Allied press wouldn't do something that would aid the Axis cause in 1943, don't do it for the Jihadists today.

Reality Check

The Jihadists are just a load of cranks egged on by desperation and the evils of Western foreign policy and they have no real ambitions of their own.

Right. And I'm the Queen of the May.

Update: When I came across this video I thought it was a slightly hysterical anti-Jihadist compilation video of the sort I take with a large grain of salt.

Then I discovered that it's an advert for the Khilafah Conference International 2007 in Indonesia.

These people are not joking. It's like switching on one of the first televisions and discovering a live feed from the Nuremberg rally.

Dhimmi Street

The Wall Street watchdog organisation SIRA has changed its name to FINRA.

Why? Because the previous acronym sounded too much like the Arabic word for biographies of Mohammed and, according to a spokeswoman,
We operate in a global, multi-racial, multi-religion environment, and we strive to be sensitive and respectful to all. To remain true to that spirit, we have decided that selecting the alternative name for our new organization is simply the right thing to do.

Blacklash and Moonbeams

A convenience store in Glasgow owned by a "man of Pakistani descent" was vandalised by persons unknown who "set a fire" and the Al AP's Tariq Panja is there on the scene to triumphantly declare that it is a confirmed sighting of the Bigfoot of journalism: The Inevitable anti-Muslim Backlash.

Ignoring the fact that the identity and motives of the vandals are completely unknown to the reader, Mr. Panja not only claims that this is part of a wave of anti-Muslim attacks and implies that the BNP is behind it, he even manages a marvelous bit of alchemy by mixing in one alleged bit of graffiti at a mosque and less than two-dozen unspecified incidents that turn a vandalised shop into "fire-bombed businesses" (note both the plural and escalation of the offence) without need to cite any specifics.

Imagine if, during the Falklands War, the AP had turned a Saturday night dust-up at the Argentine Steak House in Aberdeen into an anti-Argentinian pogrom and you get the idea.

Deer In The Headlamps

Europe is beginning to recognise that the Jihadis are a real threat, but haven't the slightest clue as to what to do about it. This is demonstrated no more obviously in the remarks of Britain's new security minister Admiral Sir Alan West, who admits that Britain is in for a fight against the Islamists that might last fifteen years, but whose only plan is less than impressive.

Is he calling the war a war? Is he advocating taking the fight to the enemy on his own ground? Going after the tyrants financing and harbouring the Jiahdis? Is he talking about securing the borders and getting control of immigration? Damning multiculturalism? Demanding that Muslims assimilate and that whether or not they're treated with suspicion is up to them and not their neighbours, who have every right to be wary until assured otherwise?

Sorry. Sir Alan's remedy is... "snitching."

On The Payroll

Up to eight people with suspected links to terrorist groups, including Al Qaeda, have been discovered working for British police forces.

Have they been arrested? Questioned? At least sacked? Nope (emphasis added).
Astonishingly, many of the alleged jihadists have not been sacked because - it is claimed - police do not have the "legal power" to dismiss them.

No Respect

The AP's Thomas Wagner puzzles over why all those doctors became involved in a terrorist plot and for all his research and pondering cannot come up with a single common denominator as to what could cause these professional men to plant car bombs in London and Glasgow. Could it be a religious motive. No, of course not. Don't be silly.

It is enough to make one show genuine sympathy for the Jihadists. I mean, here they are shouting from the rooftops that they're a load of crazed Muslim fanatics dedicated to establishing a worldwide Caliphate and have sworn war to the knife against any infidel or fellow Muslim who does not subscribe to their twisted brand of Islam and you can't even get the Western elite to give you a look in. What do you have to do to be taken seriously as a power-hungry megalomaniac around here?

In the wake of last week's bombing attempts in London & Glasgow, Australian authorities are carrying out raids and are questioning five more doctors with (if you read the BBC) nothing in common beyond being doctors.

A Former Jihadi Speaks Out

Hassan Butt, who was once a member of radical group Al-Muhajiroun, addresses the ostrich mentality of the West and moderate Muslims when it comes to radical Islam:

When I was still a member of what is probably best termed the British Jihadi Network, a series of semi-autonomous British Muslim terrorist groups linked by a single ideology, I remember how we used to laugh in celebration whenever people on TV proclaimed that the sole cause for Islamic acts of terror like 9/11, the Madrid bombings and 7/7 was Western foreign policy.

By blaming the government for our actions, those who pushed the 'Blair's bombs' line did our propaganda work for us. More important, they also helped to draw away any critical examination from the real engine of our violence: Islamic theology.

Read the whole thing, as they say.

The Prime Minister Mr. Gordon Brown has finally stood up and addressed the threat of radical Islam by leaping boldly into action and... banning any use of the words "Muslim" and "War" in connection with the war being waged against us by radical Muslims.

Gordon Brown has banned ministers from using the word “Muslim” in connection with the terrorism crisis.

The Prime Minister has also instructed his team – including new Home Secretary Jacqui Smith – that the phrase “war on terror” is to be dropped.

The shake-up is part of a fresh attempt to improve community relations and avoid offending Muslims, adopting a more “consensual” tone than existed under Tony Blair.
Start as you intend to continue, I suppose.

Meanwhile, the BBC has finally found something to link together the perpetrators of the recent bombing attempts; they all worked for the NHS.

It's as I've always suspected. Now we must ask ourselves why does the National Health Service hate us?

Two more men have been arrested in connection with the recent bombings, bringing the total to seven. The BBC describes the suspects as "not thought to be of British origin," so I presume that they are Lithuanian Buddhists.

Five people from Glasgow to Cheshire to Liverpool have been arrested in Britain in connection with the recent bombing attempts with more to follow over the next few days.

Interestingly, two of the five are physicians.

So much for the "poor and disenfranchised" theory of Jihadism.

Still, it's perplexing that we keep finding so many people from such diverse backgrounds and over such a wide area of the country involved in terrorist attacks. I keep looking at the news reports for something that they all have in common, but it still remains a mystery.

Glasgow Attack

Two "Asian" men rammed a Jeep Cherokee into the main terminal at Glasgow airport with the vehicle bursting into flames. The men in the car and two others are reported to be under arrest by Strathclyde police. Eye witnesses say that this was no accident and that the driver deliberately swung the car into the entry way. According to Sky News, one witness said that the men were "throwing petrol around".

Who is behind this attack, what their motive might be, whether it is part of some larger events, if it is related to the failed London bomb attacks, if there is some religious element (Heaven knows what), or if anyone named "Mohammad" is involved remains an utter mystery and will remain so for as long as the major media outlets can manage.

Update: Sky News is now reporting that only two men have been arrested.

Update: Witness tells Sky News that one of the suspects shouted "Allah" while attacking a policemen.

Update: Fox News has reported that Britain's threat level has been raised to "critical", meaning that another attack is thought imminent. The BBC confirms.

Update: The BBC is reporting that two people have been detained in Cheshire in connection with the bombings in Glasgow & London. Looks as if the two incidents are part of the same plot.

Update: The Jihadist who was taken to hospital in critical condition from severe burns was wearing a suicide bomb belt.

Update: CNN reports that there may be a third Jihadist in the Jeep. Also, the burns of the bomb belt terrorist are explained:

Witness Jackie Kennedy told the BBC that after the crash, a passenger in the Jeep doused himself with fuel from a can and ignited it, then got out of the vehicle. Airport police used fire extinguishers on him, and he fell to the ground, she said.

"I realized that this was obviously deliberately done -- the fact that the guy was in flames and seemed to be enjoying himself, even smiling," Kennedy told the BBC.

How anyone can read this and think it's no problem if these madmen get their hands on nuclear weapons is beyond me.

Catch and Release

According to ABC News, British police have identified the suspect and (surprise!) it isn't a rogue IRA operative or Mafia hit man, but is Al Qaeda (emphasis added):
British police have a "crystal clear" picture of the man who drove the bomb-rigged silver Mercedes outside a London nightclub, and officials tell the Blotter on ABCNews.com he bears "a close resemblance" to a man arrested by police in connection with another bomb plot but released for lack of evidence.

Officials say the suspect had been taken into custody in connection with the case of al Qaeda operative Dhiren Barot (pictured), who was convicted of orchestrating a vehicle bomb plot involving targets in London, New York, Newark, N.J. and Washington, D.C.

And some people can't understand why it's a bad idea to use the police and civilian courts to solve what is a military problem.

London Bombing Attempt

Authorities in London have neutralised a car bomb in the Haymarket. Planted outside of the Tiger Tiger nightclub, which has a maximum capacity of 1700, a green metallic Mercedes packed with petrol, propane and nails was discovered by an ambulance crew when it started emitting smoke at about 1:30 AM. Police destroyed the vehicle with a controlled explosion and a second car in Park Lane is under investigation.

This bomb smells so heavily of Al Qaeda that even the BBC can't skirt around the obvious, though the AP does a valiant effort by reporting that "Police were also investigating the possibility that the planned attack could have been criminal in nature."

Uh, yeah.

My impression is that this happening within two days of Gordon Brown becoming Prime Minister is no coincidence and that the Jihadis were hoping to pull a Madrid by killing hundreds, if not thousands within a stone's throw of Piccadilly Circus before Mr. Brown had a chance to finish unpacking his underwear at No. 10. Hopefully this misfire will turn into a backfire that will make Mr. Brown declare what his predecessor could never bring himself to do, which is that what is happening on the streets of Britain is nothing less than enemy action in time of war and that those who carry these acts out, those who aid them, and those who support their goals are nothing less than enemy agents or traitors to be treated accordingly..

But I'm not holding my breath.

Update: In a concerted effort to sweep things under the carpet, AP (no surprise here) is reporting that terror links were "not found," though a closer reading indicates that there isn't any positive evidence linking the bomb to specific terrorist suspects. It's important to keep an open mind in these situations, but until the police put the finger on someone who isn't named Mohammad, I'm leaving this in the Jihad basket.

Update: Fleet street has been closed off because of a third suspicious vehicle.

Update: CBS claims to have uncovered a connection to a posting on a Jihadist web site.

Oh, That Invasion!

Al Reuters has a story about a demand request that Spain reverse the Reconquista give descendants of Muslims expelled in the 17th century preferential immigration status. This is allegedly meant to address an "injustice" (i.e. Losing the war).

Not surprisingly, Al Reuters doesn't mention that pesky little Muslim invasion of Spain in the 8th century until paragraph eleven-- and then only in passing.

Blind Spot

The Prime Minister Mr. Tony Blair says that he would like to see university Islamic studies revamped, more imams trained in Britain, closer links between madrassas and mainstream schools and for politicians to listen harder to the "voice of moderation."

I understand what Mr. Blair is trying to accomplish, and it's a logical part of fighting the Jihadists to make sure that Islamic studies departments and local mosques aren't staffed by Islamofascists, but given the lingering poison of multiculturalism and Mr. Blair's utter refusal to treat an enemy in time of war as an enemy in time of war, I keep getting a vision of a backside getting firmly bitten.

Hans Christian Andersen, Call Your Service

Copenhagen's The Little Mermaid statue was found Sunday sitting on her rock dressed in a Burqua.

Quite frankly, I'm surprised that the police had the nerve to remove the garb. Whether this was Sharia zeal or Nativist protest, it's an apt symbol of Europe in the 21st century.

Tip o' the hat to Eldias for the story and headline.

Blackburnistan

A Panorama documentary about how "East meets West... in Blackburn."

The BBC tries to paint a picture of a peaceful community, which I'm willing to accept that Blackburn is, but when one has an alien minority that is self-isolated, aggressive and refuses assimilation, that is a basis for trouble. When that minority acts as a hiding place for 4000 terrorists and who knows how many more that share their aims, it is a basis for disaster.

Why We Fight

Sheik Ahmad Bahr last Friday:

Ahmad Bahr began: "You will be victorious" on the face of this planet. You are the masters of the world on the face of this planet. Yes, [the Koran says that] "you will be victorious," but only "if you are believers." Allah willing, "you will be victorious," while America and Israel will be annihilated. I guarantee you that the power of belief and faith is greater than the power of America and Israel. They are cowards, who are eager for life, while we are eager for death for the sake of Allah. That is why America's nose was rubbed in the mud in Iraq, in Afghanistan, in Somalia, and everywhere.

Bahr continued and said that America will be annihilated, while Islam will remain. The Muslims "will be victorious, if you are believers." Oh Muslims, I guarantee you that the power of Allah is greater than America, by whom many are blinded today. Some people are blinded by the power of America. We say to them that with the might of Allah, with the might of His Messenger, and with the power of Allah, we are stronger than America and Israel.

The Hamas spokesperson concluded with a prayer, saying: "Oh Allah, vanquish the Jews and their supporters. Oh Allah, count their numbers, and kill them all, down to the very last one. Oh Allah, show them a day of darkness. Oh Allah, who sent down His Book, the mover of the clouds, who defeated the enemies of the Prophet defeat the Jews and the Americans, and bring us victory over them."
Who is Sheik Ahmad Bahr? The acting Speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council.

"You are the masters of the world" and "kill them all, down to the very last one." I can't imagine what he meant by that.

Update: Ahmad Bahr's little homily was funded in part by US taxpayers to the tune of $1.6 billion.

Sharia Britain

From the Daily Express:
Controversial Sharia courts have been set up in major towns and cities to impose Islamic law and enable Muslims to shun the legitimate British legal system.

Last night religious leaders and politicians expressed outrage that Sharia law is gaining an increasing foothold in our society.

Critics insisted that the Government is allowing a two-tier legal system to flourish in the name of political correctness and that the authority of UK justice is being undermined.
These critics are both Christian and Muslim groups, including the Muslim Council of Britain, whose spokesman Inayat Bunglawala said:
We believe one legal code should apply for all citizens of the UK. There is no place for multiple legal systems for people of different religious or ethnic backgrounds.
As I keep emphasising, moderate Muslims, many of whom are in Britain because they fled Sharia, and the rest of us face a common enemy in the Jihadists and the only way we'll beat them is by a united front. Otherwise, we'll be seeing a lot more of this.

Missing Factor

The BBC is running a feature article on the "flight" of middle-class Muslims from Britain for the more "tolerant" climes of the Middle East.

The reasons for their being so fed up with life under the Union Jack are cited by the Beeb as "Islamophobia," a "witch hunt" and "glass ceilings"against Muslims, "an environment where the messages in the media are anti-Islamic" and "intense pressure to explain their faith and its place in British society."

One tiny factor that is left out of the BBC's leave-no-stone-unturned approach to journalism might be that perhaps there is this little matter of a war against crazed Jihadists who wish to destroy civilisation and have demonstrated this in the Mosques and on the streets of London with words and bloody deeds and the marked reluctance moderate Muslims have in speaking out-- much less in taking a hand in combating these barbarians. Yet, if this article is to be believed (which is problematic), middle-class Muslims regard the British people and Her Majesty's Government as their enemy, not the Jihadists who hate moderate Muslims as much as they do the infidels.

Perhaps Muslims in Britain who are packing their bags would get a better reception if they chose the side of civilisation and the resolve of fight over flight.

Sharia Bonds

From the Times (emphasis added):

Muslims keen to comply with the financial strictures of religious Islamic law may be able to buy Premium Bonds for the first time after a government review announced yesterday.

Ed Balls, the Treasury Minister in charge of City affairs, wants all types of government-sponsored savings products to be accessible to those who adhere to Sharia.

If lemmings ever become extinct, at least we'll have Her Majesty's Government to take their place.

For now.

Tomato cucumber salad: The light lunch of Crusader depravity

From the AP on Al Qaeda in Iraq:
American commanders cite al-Qaida's severe brand of Islam, which is so extreme that in Baqouba, al-Qaida has warned street vendors not to place tomatoes beside cucumbers because the vegetables are different genders, Col. David Sutherland said.
The question is, which one gets the burkha?

Dhimmitude in the Classroom

The Telegraph has this from a recent government report on British schools:
Some teachers dropped the Holocaust completely from lessons because of fears that Muslim pupils might express anti-Semitic reactions. One school avoided teaching the Crusades because its "balanced" handling of the topic would directly contradict what was taught in local mosques.
The students may be getting a substandard education, but the teachers are learning their lessons very well.

Dutch Riot Update

The Brussels Journal looks further into the Dutch nativist riots and shows that the attitude behind it is not an isolated case. Similar complaints about the lack of government action against Muslim attacks on non-Muslims have occurred in Belgium, France, and Sweden, where the latter's situation is particularly chilling (emphasis added):
The wave of robberies the increasingly Muslim-dominated city of Malmö is witnessing is part of a "war against Swedes," this according to statements from the immigrant youths themselves. "When we are in the city and robbing, we are waging a war, waging a war against the Swedes." This argument was repeated several times. "Power for me means that Swedes shall look at me, lie down on the ground and kiss my feet."

Jonathan Friedman, an American living in Sweden, mentions that the so-called Integration Act of 1997 proclaimed that "Sweden is a Multicultural society." The Act implicitly states that Sweden doesn't have a history, only the various ethnic groups that live there. Native Swedes have been reduced to just another ethnic group in Sweden, with no more claim to the country than the Somalis who arrived there last Thursday. As Friedman puts it: "In Sweden, it's almost as if the state has sided with the immigrants against the Swedish working class."
Whether this is true or not, if the governments of Europe are fostering the belief in the people that it is true, then the Continent is lurching that much closer to the abyss.

Saving Their Bacon

The Three Little Pigs will not be renamed the Three Little Puppies in a children's show at the Kirklees Primary Music Festival, thanks to local councilors who thought the move intended to avoid offending Muslims was "well-intentioned but wrong."

Wrong, yes, but well intentioned? I'm not so sure. No Muslims voiced any objections to the play, but Gill Goodswen, one of the organisers of the festival, said,
We have to be sensitive if we want to be multi-cultural. It was felt it would be more responsible not to use the three little pigs.
Ah, the perfect mindset of the dhimmi. Censor yourself before the Faithful even complain.

Sauce for the Goose and Not the Gander

Sometimes the Muslim Council of Britain overreaches itself and the mask slips off, as in the case of its latest decree report that demands suggests that British school effectively ban all "un-Islamic" activities in deference to Muslim students no matter how few, if any, are in attendance. The report calls for a ban on such infidel activities as mixed-sex sports, dancing, drawing the human form, and giving immunisation shots during Ramadan, but the money quote from the Daily Express is this one (emphasis added):
And while the MCB insists that all British children should learn about Islam, it wants Muslims to have the right to withdraw their children from RE lessons dealing with Christianity and other faiths.
Apparently religious accomodation is a one-way street at the MCB.

The report was roundly condemned by other Muslim groups and all but disowned by the Department of Education, which is already suffering intense embarrassment from having Professor Tim Brighouse, chief adviser to London schools, scheduled to attend its launching.

The report's title, "Towards Greater Understanding – Meeting The Needs of Muslim Pupils In State Schools", is a beautiful study in Newspeak. If the contents are to be taken at face value, "meeting the needs" of Muslim pupils requires their infidel colleagues to accept dhimmitude.

Welcome to the 7th century.

The Jihad Will Not Be Televised

Hear about the riot in Ste. Geneviève des Bois, France where fifty Muslims attacked attacked three cars and left a man in a coma? The failed hijack of a Mauritanian airliner by a man who wanted the machine flown to Paris (for whatever purpose) because of "all the bad things they are doing to Muslims"? How about that the Utah gunman turning out to be a Bosnian Muslim, but the press completely failed to report that tiny fact even to prove it irrelevant?

Probably not, unless you did a lot of burrowing, because the MSM has shown a remarkable lack of curiosity of late about possible Jihadist incidents.

"Ultraconservative" paranoia about a non-existent threat or a press determined to manage the news because the brutish public can't be trusted with the complete facts for fear of a "backlash"? I doubt if there is any truly Jihadist motive in any of these cases, but the tendency of the press to downplay them to the point of obscurity and to not even consider the possibility of a terrorist element during a time of war is at best a matter of reckless irresponsibility.

A Slight Hint

From ITN footage of Abu Izzadeen preaching in a mosque regarding Muslims who join the British Army and what should be done to them:
Whoever allies himself with the Kaffirs (non-believers) against the believers - he is one of them.

He who joins the British Army, the American Army, he is a mortal kaffir and his only hukum (punishment) is for his head to be removed.

Indeed, whoever changes his deen (Muslim code of life); kill him.

Just fiery rhetoric, people. Nothing to see here. Move along.

Joining the side of civilisation, the Muslim Educational Centre of Oxford (Meco) is helping fund a school's fight to enforce its ban on wearing the niqab, calling the suit against the school part of a "largely Saudi-driven campaign to make the niqab a compulsory requirement for Muslim women".

Are we at War NOW?!?

Nine terrorist suspects have been arrested in Birmingham regarding a plot to kidnap a Muslim British soldier, behead him and then post the gory video on the Internet in classic Jihadist fashion.

And New Labour still insists that this is a police matter. That explains why you can never find any government surplus blinkers.

Update: In a classic example of arse-backwards thinking, the government is leaping into action and telling British soldiers to go to ground.
Muslim soldiers and their families are expected to be given new security guidance after a suspected Islamist plot to kidnap, torture and behead a British Muslim soldier was allegedly foiled with the arrest of nine men in Birmingham yesterday.
Might we suggest that killing the terrorists and going after the tyrants who sponsor them would be a more permanent solution?

Sickening Idea

From the Independent:
A leading Islamic doctor is urging British Muslims not to vaccinate their children against diseases such as measles, mumps, and rubella because they contain substances making them unlawful for Muslims to take.
What is a devout Muslim to do?
Dr.Katme, an NHS psychiatrist, said: "If you breastfeed your child for two years - as the Koran says - and you eat Koranic food like olives and black seed, and you do ablution each time you pray, then you will have a strong defence system."
And this man works for the NHS?!?

First Out of the Box

It's the first post of the year and the BBC has hit the ground running. In an article on the terrible fate suffered by Muslim's in racist, Islamophobic Britain, the Beeb manages to make the whole of the local Muslim population look like passive victims of wicked infidels whose warmongering in Iraq and questioning of the veil is forcing the poor Islamic dears into strapping on bomb belts and killing innocent men, women and children.

Not quite even that. The Beeb doesn't even mention suicide bombers, preferring to make it look as if those trains and that bus just sort of exploded on their own and last year's attempt to bring down ten airliners simultaneously wasn't even mentioned. True, the Danish Cartoon War was mentioned, but not British Muslims in the streets of London calling for beheading anyone who dares to insult Mohammad nor the cravenness of the British press in refusing to publish the cartoons in question.

I particularly like the use of the weseal phrase "real fears," as if the fears may be real, but the actual threat is a matter of perspective.

"War? What war?" looks to be the BBC motto for 2007.

Double Dhimmi Standards

In a mind-blowing expression of bare-faced gall, Spain's Islamic Board demanded the right to conduct Muslim prayers in Cordoba cathedral, which was a mosque before being converted to a cathedral in the 13th century.

Quite rightly, the Catholic church told the Muslim board what it could do with its demands, but it is a clear sign of what we face given the fact that this comes only a few weeks after Pope Benedict XVI's visit to the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul nearly set off a powder keg over speculation that he would dare do anything so vile as to make the sign of the cross in the vicinity. According to the Turkish paper Vatan,
The risk is that Benedict will send Turkey's Muslims and much of the Islamic world into paroxysms of fury if there is any perception that the Pope is trying to re-appropriate a Christian center that fell to Muslims.
It looks as though re-appropriation is a one-way street.

Dhimmitude, Whether You KNow It or Not

A couple of headlines from the world of creeping dhimmitude.

In Britain, some state schools are serving all children, Muslim and infidel, only halal meat. More than that, it turns out that they've been doing so for years without telling anyone.

That's only infuriating. In Norway, it gets downright scary when Unni Wikan, a professor of social anthropology at the University of Oslo, reacted to Oslo's skyrocketing rape cases perpetrated by Muslim immigrant men in this way (emphasis added):
“Norwegian women must take their share of responsibility for these rapes” because Muslim men found their manner of dress provocative. The professor’s conclusion was not that Muslim men living in the West needed to adjust to Western norms, but the exact opposite: “Norwegian women must realize that we live in a Multicultural society and adapt themselves to it.”
Dear God, it's beyond parody!

Christmas Unveiled

The Muslim woman pegged to deliver Channel Four's "alternative" Christmas message in full veil has withdrawn (emphasis added).
In a statement, she said that it was the unexpected publicity around her decision that made her change her mind.

But a source close to the programme makers said one of the reasons was that she had been pressurised by senior members of the community who felt it was not her place to talk about Islam. It has also been said that she had received threatening letters from non-Muslims accusing her of trying to upstage the Queen.
Pass the eggnog, please.

Yuletide Dhimmitude

From Reuters (emphasis added):
A school in traditionally Catholic Spain has cancelled Christmas celebrations so as not to offend children who are not Christians, ABC newspaper reported on Wednesday.

The Hilarion Gimeno school in Zaragoza said teachers had put forward various reasons for not celebrating Christmas, but ABC said the worry was that Muslim children might be upset.

Missing Piece of the Puzzle

The BBC reports that a man, Derrick Shareef, 22, has been arrested for planning to carry out "violent Jihad" by attacking a shopping centre in Illinois with hand grenade.

Not surprisingly, the Beeb leaves out one tiny detail in the story. I can't quite put my finger on it, but I suspect that it may have something to do with his motive.

And a Corn Chicken in a Palm Tree

In an effort to make Christmas more "inclusive", some British schools are going to such "inclusive" lengths as to avoid Christmas celebrations in favour of a "inclusive" "multi-faith" function, dumping the carol "The Twelve Days of Christmas" for a reggae version that replaces partridges with "inclusive" "corn chickens" (whatever the deuce they are) and golden rings with mangoes, and, at Rotherham, removing turkey from the menu to make way for an "inclusive" "Muslim Christmas" (?!?)
