The immortal Hugo Gernsback's idea that he patented in 1921: Put iron shoes on aeroplane undercarriages and use banks of electromagnets set on the landing pad to bring the machine to a short halt-- including five-decked monsters such as the one illustrated above.

Notice how this simple idea turns any ship's deck or building roof into an air field.  Note the passengers milling about beneath the landing pad.  Note the man with the early 1920s laptop cursing a blue streak because his hard drive has just been wiped.

And for that extra bit of cachet, install this electromagnetic carousel to launch aircraft. This is the reason why the FAA had Gernsback on their "watch" list.
