In 1955, the editors of Mechanix Illustrated stepped back and let their readers have a go at predicting the future.  With tongue firmly in cheek, they sorted out the best and came up with a collection that mixed sensible ideas like video recorders and cell phones with ones like glow in the dark roads and space binoculars for looking around corners.
