A
rear guard action against a future dominated by synthetic food was the
Chicken of Tomorrow.
Back in the 1940s, American
poultry farmers united in a poultry-oriented Manhattan project
dedicated to using selective breeding and the latest in mechanised
chicken coops to create a chicken with bigger breasts, plumper thighs,
and more white meat. Insane you say? Yes, that's what the
fools at the university said, too! They said it was mad!
Mad!

Contrary to rumours, the Chicken of the Tomorrow programme in no way
involved genetic engineering, bionic implants, and force-feeding
plutonium. This has always been vehemently denied by the Chicken
of the Tomorrow committee. However, after this 1997 scene from a
KFC restaurant in Venice, we feel compelled to offer the following
warning: CAUTION! Do not microwave these
chickens! Conventional ovens only! |
