Junior had to have a radio schoolroom-- or at least an "opti-onic" one
and with four tubes at that. It looks more like a radar set to
warn of approaching proctors, but maybe that's just me.
This 1943 advertisement is a bit
hazy on the details, but apparently opti-onics provides the student of
tomorrow with a gadget on his desk that records "all that goes on in
the classroom... visually and audibly". If memory
serves me correctly, the sort of things that go on in the average
classroom don't really welcome being recorded either visually or
audibly and I suspect that if future schoolboys learn anything, it
will be how to cunningly sabotage these little evidence gatherers down
to the last of their four tubes.
