The
1939 New York World's Fair had something for everybody, including the
certifiable.
A prime example is Raymond Loewy's take on intercontinental travel:
the Rocketport.
Need to get from New York to London in a hurry? The Queen Mary
just isn't fast enough and the Concorde is sooo 20th
century. What's the solution? How about getting getting
yourself fired out of a rocket gun big enough to fit an ocean liner in
its muzzle.
You'll get to Piccadilly in record time, I suppose, though you'll
probably find that the shampoo bottle in your luggage has broken and you've
got Head and Shoulders all over your jammies. |
