| Tracy Island, home of the Tracy Family (ex-astronaut Jeff Tracy, his
five sons, grandma, loyal servant Kyrano and daughter Tin-Tin, plus
resident genius Brains), and headquarters of International Rescue:
a super-secret organisation that uses a fleet of
bleeding-edge technology super machines to save lives from natural and
man made disasters around the world.
This late-googie island home covers massive hangers, workshops, and launching silos, such as the one under the swimming pool in the foreground. Imagine an underground version of the Kennedy Space Centre underneath a Holiday Inn and you get the idea. Now, as a boy I was willing to suspend disbelief quite cheerfully, but I never could fathom a) how all this was paid for or b) how less than a dozen people were possibly able to build the bloody thing. Heck, I'm still trying to figure out how Batman and Alfred got that supercomputer into the Batcave all on their lonesome. |
