Note inconspicuous mike for car phone.

"What's an eight letter word for 'ferret bum'?"One place where the world of UFO had it over the real 1980 was in the field of electronics.  1980 was to be a world of cell phones in cars (albeit with ridiculously huge microphones on goose-neck arms), videophones are de rigueur, and space defence satellites would speak with suitably deferential voices.

True, computers would still be mainframe jobs with reel to reel tapes and even punch tape memories, but they would look cool, which is what really matters.

"No, I do not know an eight letter word for 'ferret bum'."And telephones would be much more sophisticated.  Not only would videophones be common, but so would cordless models that were smaller than anything then real world would see for  until the '90s.

Radio... of the FUTURE!This neat little gem is rather clever.  It's a tiny portable radio with a built-in speaker that puts the old tranny to shame.

Office PC... of the FUTURE!And then there's this poser.  It looks like a PC from the early '80s.  Pretty impressive on the prediction side-- or would be if there was a monitor to go with it.  Apparently word processing in 1980 relied a good deal on memory and touch-typing skills.
