SHAZAM!

The nuts-and-bolts realism of the early Astounding atomic covers were interesting, but it was the allegorical covers praising the spirit of the atom that had a certain appeal all their own.   Over several years, the artists who drew the Astounding covers had a field day as they gave vision to the science fiction cry of "See? See?  We told you we were right.  Science fiction is a dry-run of the future.  It's not just a bunch of pimply adolescent boys who aren't good at sports and can't get a date.  Uh.. have they invented video games yet?"
