Still, the idea of a machine that gives you your
food has an inherently futuristic quality. Look at this meals
machine from 2001: a Space Odyssey. Granted, everything
it put out was pureed squash, but the machine looked cool. RCA
Whirlpool designed this machine for Stanley Kubrick, who then
subverted any hopes of using it for sales promotion by having the
actors pretend that the thing kept burning their hands. |
