Why do all these future kitchens have so much empty floor space?  What do they expect to do while the tater tots are heating?  Indulge in a spot of ballroom dancing?  Terpsichorean kitchen architecture; that's the ticket.

That would seem to be about the only thing that the RCA Whirlpool "miracle kitchen" hadn't going for it.  In addition to the usual suspect and love of lift up and drop down shelving that bordered on the obsessive, it also boasted a "planning  centre" complete with closed circuit television, a microwave oven, a mobile dishwasher/storage unit and a robot vacuum that looked distinctly aggressive.

And if push came to shove, you could cook in the place, too.
