The British administrator of Moonbase 3 and his
Soviet counterpart having a friendly drink as they discuss the new
Anglo-Soviet space mission to Jupiter.
Definitely science fiction.
This
one fell well clear of the mark, but you can hardly blame them.
In 1973, no one imagined that this scene would be impossible in thirty
years. The USSR would not be the dominate power on Earth?
The Russian space programme would be reduced to ferrying billionaires
on package holidays and building Soyuzs to American orders? No
chance of an entente cordial with the Communists because
the Soviet Union fell apart? Marxism one with Nineveh and Tyre?
Who knew?
By the way, what are they drinking? If you really want to
know, read on.
But I warn you, ignorance can be bliss.
