The shuttles that service
Moonbase 3 tempt one to laughter. They're short, stubby and look
as if they were slapped together from a Fairy Liquid bottle by the
cast of Blue Peter. On the other hand, they make regular runs
between Earth orbit and the Moon while carrying enough tonnage to keep
a base of two score going on a permanent footing. Not only that,
in a pinch you can rig a heat shield to one and make an emergency
flight
right to an unassisted Earth landing.
