An object lesson in what would have happened if the Soviet Union had got 'round to building robots.

 "Iron" John from the Soviet film Planeta Bur (1962) (aka Voyage to the Prehistoric Planet or Voyage to the Planet of Prehistoric Women) is a walking example of the Politburo's engineering philosophy:  If you can build it, build it as big as possible.  Designing a toaster?  Borrow heavily from the battle tank division.  Have a robot on the drawing board?  Give it a  look as if it was made out of old locomotive parts and had to be bashed into shape with a steam hammer, then make the feet along the lines of a clawed stamping press.

Come on; when was the last time you saw a robot with chubby thighs?
