The
Mechanical Man (AKA L'Uomo Meccanico (1921)) was one
Italy's few forays into the realm of science fiction until all those
weird Mario Bava things started to crop up in the 1960s.
If
you haven't heard of The Mechanical Man, this isn't surprising
because for decades it was thought to be lost until a Brazilian print
turned up-- forty percent of one anyway. Makes the plot a bit
hard to follow, but you still get to see a robot with a surprisingly
large nose smash a lot of stuff up.
And that's what counts,
isn't it? |
