Gads, this is one is scary!

Mobot, as this beclawed behemoth is dubbed, was built in 1960 by the Hughes Aircraft Corporation and I'm not surprised.  Only an outfit run by Howard Hughes could cobble together this refugee from a Doctor Who episode.

I don't care if it is meant to relieve mankind from the burdens of labour; it is about as far from the word "cuddly" as it's possible to get.  The one on the left is bad enough.  It looks like Doctor Octopus hiding in a cardboard box without much success, but the one above is downright terrifying. I suspect death rays are involved.  I'm not sure whether it's purpose is undersea construction, nuclear research, or winning a bet on how fast it will take the state militia to mobilise against the thing.
