We can't start our look at Mars expeditions without
a quick look in on the one and only (thank God!) sci-fi musical comedy,
Just Imagine. Was this voyage to Mars done for humanity?
For riches? For fame? Nope. Our hero did it to ace
out his romantic rival and marry Maureen O'Sullivan. Aside
from the appalling jokes and (if there is any hope for humanity)
forgettable musical numbers, this film is also noteworthy for the
first appearance of the spaceship that would grace many a Flash Gordon
serial.
