This depiction of a future Moonship is by the
American illustrator G. H. Davis, though from the look of things I
suspect that its lineage is more German than American. It
certainly bears a striking family resemblance to Oberth's rocket from
Fritz Lang's Frau im Mond from 1929.
Still, it is a compact little design–more of a
space yacht than ship. I particularly like the gyroscopic
control cabin. It manages to be both pointlessly complicated,
yet claustrophobic. A rare achievement. |
