In the early 1960s, almost
nothing was known about the Moon's surface. One theory was that
it had no solid soil and was instead covered with a sea of fine dust
many yards thick and was as insubstantial as icing sugar.
If this turned out to be the case, then this rover
made out of a series of screw would be the only way to explore what
would be literally, albeit very dry, lunar seas. |
