Death Ray

Tales of Future Past
Ephemeral Isle

The infernal machine racket is a cut throat one and it isn't surprising that it can lead to some unpleasant episodes.  In 1924, a Mr. A. Roberts came forward and claimed before the world press that Grindell-Matthews was a fraud and that he was the true inventor of death ray.  Unfortunately, when he set out to prove this the results were less than climactic as we see Mr. Roberts demonstrating his ray gun by using it to stop a motorcycle engine.

Not so much a death ray as a not-at-all-well ray, really.
